Okanagan Communities

Kelowna is the largest and most well-known city in the Okanagan, but the region boasts many charming communities that anyone would be thrilled to call home.

Jane Hoffman Realty is proud to feature real estate listings in several Okanagan towns and municipalities, and we are eager to discuss the benefits of each community with those considering a move to the area.

Okanagan Weather

Kelowna lies in the heart of the picture-perfect Okanagan Valley, along the magnificent Okanagan Lake. The surrounding Cascade, Coast, and Monashee mountains create a protective rain shadow and a lovely, four-season climate. More than 2000 hours of sunlight per year, minimal rain (approximately 13 inches per year, mostly in the spring and autumn), and about 40 inches of snow each winter make ideal conditions for recreation and agriculture.

Kelowna’s high-desert summers are warm, with hot days and fairly low humidity. The temperature is perfect to enjoy the beaches and watersports on Okanagan Lake, as well as for taste-testing all of the famous (and delicious) local tree fruits and grapes.

Autumn in Kelowna is bathed in golden sunshine and moderate temperatures. The warm fall colours and brisk air provide ample motivation to enjoy the outdoors.

Winter in the city is mild, with minimal snowfall and temperatures that average around 0℃. In the surrounding mountains, however, our ski resorts are blessed with tonnes of champagne powder and sunshine throughout the season.

Spring brings a renewal of lovely weather (warm temperatures, and just enough rain to make the flowers grow). The Valley explodes with colour and fragrance from the gardens, farms, vineyards, and orchards that surround the city.
