We’ve asked everyone to answer some questions that will give us a little insight into who they really are.
This week, we’re learning about our wonderful REALTOR® and VP Sales, Kristy Huber:
What is the last book you read?
You would laugh if you saw my room…I have books all over the place and can barely walk to my side of the bed…I love reading, it’s my way of relaxing. Unfortunately, I often find myself still reading “page turners” at 2 am!! Currently, I’m reading A Stranger in the House, by Shari Lapena (I really enjoyed her last novel, The Couple Next Door.)
What is your most significant current challenge?
Slowing down time! I am shocked how quickly the weeks fly by, hard to believe we are nearing the end of October, and I honestly felt I just put away last year’s Halloween decorations a few months ago!
Favourite Okanagan restaurant?
I have a few, but right now I would have to say Bouchons is top of my list. I was there recently and enjoyed every bite and every ounce of wine, too.
Favourite Okanagan activity?
Mountain biking. I started riding again a few years ago after a long hiatus. Nothing like speeding down a trail, navigating some “scary” stuff, and still being alive to talk about it! Plus, it’s great to get outdoors and enjoy all the amazing landscapes around the Okanagan.
What is your favourite aspect of your job?
Having a happy customer –when a client feels good about their home sales process or buying a new one! It gives me the greatest satisfaction when they appreciate all the assistance the team and I provide to get the job done.
What was your first job?
Other than babysitting…my first “real” job was working at Scandia Golf and Games.
Career highlight?
Hmmm….I have several. Some real estate transactions come with such complexities, emotions, stressors, and problems that just navigating through these situations to a successful solution and transaction for all parties involved become “highlights”. They stick with you, you learn from them, and are more equipped for the next one. I also completed 25 years in the industry recently, which felt rewarding (and shocking, back to the “time” thing mentioned above- where did 25 years go?).
What would you like to accomplish this year in your career?
Well, as the end of October quickly approaches, I would love to be able to sell all my clients homes that are currently on the market! That would make me (and them) smile!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by so many things. This may sound cliché but I am inspired by people’s stories: how they work through the problems facing them with courage and strength. I am inspired by people with medical issues, who persevere with an optimistic attitude. I am inspired by people I see who work hard, work smart, and know how to have a life at the same time. I am inspired by people that offer a genuine smile…shall I keep going? Because I can!
What is your idea of the perfect day?
LOL…I smile when I see this. There can be lots of “perfect” days! Today, for example, a perfect day for me would be:
- Sleep in until I feel like it!
- Have a BIG breakfast
- Sell a house before noon
- Go for a mountain bike ride
- Work on selling my listings
- Have dinner with the family
- Walk the dog
- Read a book with glass or two of wine!
