White Christmas in Big White
Dash through the snow on your skis and snowboards at our “hometown hill”, which just happens to be a world-class ski resort. The snow has been generously falling this season, and the schussing is always excellent.
What better way to reconnect with loved ones than by spending time together at the end of an exhilarating day on the slopes? Soak in a hot tub or enjoy an apres-ski drink together in one of Big White’s welcoming restaurants. We love the famed hot chocolate at The Woods!
There’s plenty for everyone at the mountain: peaceful snowshoe trails, traditional sleigh rides, or a pick-up hockey game on the pond. And cap off the evening with the beloved Happy Valley fireworks display!
Walking in a Winter Wonderland
The Kelowna area has such picturesque hiking trails, and this time of year, they are holiday card perfect!
Strap on your snowshoes and head to Myra Canyon, Knox Mountain, or Mill Creek for a sparkling climb through the woods. Enjoy an easy stroll along the Mission Creek Greenway. Or make your cheeks nice and rosy with a day of cross-country skiing at Telemark. You’re sure to spot some wildlife enjoying the snow, too.
Spirited Sledding
‘Tis the season to slide! This great Canadian pastime can be enjoyed by everyone in the family.
Pull the toboggans out of the garage and head to Quesnel Park, in the heart of the charming Kettle Valley neighbourhood, for a thrilling ride. We also love the variety of hills at Black Mountain Elementary school and Dilworth’s Lillooet Park. West Kelowna boasts some of the best sledding runs around, at Hudson Road Elementary and also at the intersection of Glenrosa and Jackpine Roads. Remember to bring some marshmallows for roasting to this one, as the friendly neighbours are happy to share their bonfires.
Skate the City
Urbanites will love the holiday bustle to be found downtown. Bernard Street is aglow with twinkling lights, and the boutiques are full of treasures and gifts. Stuart Park is brimming with spirit, too! Visit the city’s gorgeous, glowing Christmas tree, and then skate on the outdoor, lakeside rink. Afterwards, indulge in a rich, Italian-style cappuccino or a luscious hot chocolate from GioBean’s.
