Hope you find the time to check out some of these community events and enjoy some time with your families over this weekend 🙂

Rotary Centre of Arts 1315 Water Street Kelowna 1-4pm on Sunday Jan 8th Embossing Frames

Inspired by the work of Rose Braun, Participants will emboss textures onto an aluminum surface to create personalized frames.

I have personally taken my children to Family Sundays at the Gallery. You can drop in anytime from 1-4pm. A cost of $4.00 applies but well worth it. Instruction is given when you arrive and supplies handed out at that time. Tables are set up with all that is needed for your children to create their works of art. I personally find it a great enviroment for the kids to bring out their creative talents in a fun and informal atmosphere. This program is a weekly program and new projects every week.

Okanagan Science Centre Polson Park Place Vernon Telescopes in the Night Sky Saturday January 7th 1:00pm For more information 250-545-3644

I have heard great things about this paticular centre.  I have not personally had the pleasure of attending an event but this weekend I plan to take this one in so I can better explain what is involved.

What they are offering…. If you have a telescope or santa brought your kids one this event is not to be missed. Wondering what you can see in the winter sky? Go to the Okanagan Science Centre to discover the fundamentals of telescopes and learn all about the winter sky.  There is a family admission for up to 6 at a cost of $16.00. When I spoke to the centre they indicated it is well worth spending the $50.00 annual membership because not only do they offer lots of events through out the year but it would to apply to all science centre here in Canada and a number of centres abroad.  I will try and get a list of what venues it covers and keep you in the loop.

Johnson Bentley Swimming Pool in West Kelowna Old Okanagan Hwy 250-768-4442

Kelowna Library Ellis Street Sunday th 8th 1:00-1:45pm Cocoa Club

This is a great way to teach your children the value of reading.  My children have been to numerous storytimes offered from the Kelowna Library.  This paticular event asks that you bring a mug with a lid and they will provide you with hot choclate. This week the book is called the Evil Librarian written by Sanderson. The cost is free.

Boys and Girls Club Kelowna on Graham Street 12:30-3:30 Saturday the 7th 250-762-3914

This is not a family event but is worth mentioning. Every Saturday they offer a fun place for the kids to learn and run off some off that energy. My kids are members at this centre. Cost of $10.00 covers the year. Some events can cost additional for example: Outings like Big White, lazer tag etc….This Saturday they are taking the kids on a bus ride to diffrent playgrounds through the city calling it the playground hop. Aged from kindergarten and up.

Boys and Girls Club West Kelowna Inverness Road Saturday 7th  12-3:34

Once again this is not a family event but for kids aged 6-12 to have some play time. The centre is having a creative day….they will be making ice sun catchers doing some frozen bubbles and making homemade apple cider. The Kelowna Boys and Girls Club does a great job giving my kids back to me with smiles and stories so I bet this centre will do the same for your family.
