Community Spirit as Flood Waters Rise

Every once and a while we are reminded that we live in an amazing community – not just a  city but rather a network of families and residents who are eager to lend a helping hand and who care about the wellbeing of others.

video: Community Spirit at Mill Creek April 2012

This youtube.com video shot on location showcases how some Kelowna residents came out to help a home owner who’s home has been threatened with rising floor waters along Mill Creek.  Its great too see such amazing community spirit!

As I write this article, the threat of flooding has subsided in and around Kelowna but there are still certain areas that are being watched.

For up-to-date details,  visit Central Okanagan Emergency Preparedness website for flood warnings, sandbag pick-up locations and general flood preparedness information.

Does HST Apply?

If you are considering purchasing an acreage or farm in BC, I came across an interesting Blog Article posted by a fabulous Kelowna Lawyer – Peter Borszcz.

Depending on how the property was being used when it was sold, HST may or may not be applicable in the sale.

Spruce Up Your Street Appeal!

Now that winter seems to be behind us and spring is trying to arrive, it’s a good idea to take a fresh look at how your home and property looks to a potential buyer. Here’s a couple of suggestions to spruce up its appearance.

  1.   Get out the Broom!  Sweep away any old leaves, dust and debris from around the home and along the driveway. Sand from the wintery roads may have accumulated in your garage or parking area, cobwebs may be visible in corners and leaves can pile up.
  2. Freshen up the Entrance!  Start with a decorative wreath or fresh flowers at the front door. Perhaps it’s time paint, replace the light fixture or buy new hardware.
  3. Add Flowers! We are all aching to see green lawns, tree buds and colorful flowers.  Pick up some spring blooms the next time you are at the grocery store and display them on your patio or front entrance.
  4. Get rid of Christmas! We are still seeing signs of christmas decor around town and it’s APRIL! Time to take down the christmas lights, wreaths and wintery characters.

These helpful tips are easy to do and can make a great impact at your next showing…
